Privacy Policy
Last updated November 8, 2026
SheetSkill (“SheetSkill”, “we”, “us”) is a free website for practising Microsoft Excel, available at sheetskill.com. It is developed and run by Jerin George Pallath. This policy explains what information we collect when you use SheetSkill, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, contact us.
The short version
- You can practise without an account. Without one, your work and progress stay in your own browser.
- If you create an account, we store your email address, your profile and your learning progress so they follow you between devices.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
When you use SheetSkill without an account
Your spreadsheet work, lesson progress and settings (for example which ribbon tab you last used) are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. This data isn’t sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
When you create an account or sign in
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us (your name, email address and profile picture link). If you sign up with email, your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us.
- Profile: your username, display name, an optional short bio, and your privacy choices (whether your profile is public and whether your scores, badges and activity are shown).
- Learning progress: which exercises you’ve completed, how many attempts you made and when, and the badges and levels that come from them.
- Saved work: the workbooks you build in practice sheets and the Playground, so you can continue on another device.
When you contact us or report a problem
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message.
- Problem reports: the exercise, the reason you chose, any details you write and the formula you entered. If you’re signed in, the report is linked to your account.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and secure the service. We also use your IP address for a short time to limit how many reports or messages can be sent, to prevent abuse.
Files you open
Excel or CSV files you open in the Playground are read inside your browser. If you’re signed in, the resulting workbook may be saved to your account like any other saved work.
How we use information
- To provide SheetSkill: save your progress and work, show your Skills Passport and badges, and keep you signed in.
- To show leaderboards. If your profile isn’t public, you appear only as “Anonymous learner”.
- To answer your messages and fix problems you report.
- To keep SheetSkill secure and working, and to prevent abuse.
We use AI tools to help write exercises and blog articles. Your personal information, progress and saved work are not sent to AI providers.
Who processes your information
We rely on a small number of service providers, who process information on our behalf:
- Supabase — database and sign-in (stores your account, profile, progress, saved work, reports and messages).
- Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in.
- Hostinger — website hosting and server logs.
These providers may store data in countries other than yours. We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone else except when required by law.
Cookies and local storage
SheetSkill uses your browser’s storage only for things the site needs: keeping you signed in, and remembering your work, progress and preferences. We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, progress and saved work. Problem reports and contact messages are kept only as long as they’re useful for fixing problems and answering you. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider.
Your choices and rights
- Profile privacy: choose in your Skills Passport whether your profile, scores, badges and activity are public.
- Access, correction and deletion: contact us from the email address you sign in with, and we’ll help.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under privacy laws (for example in Canada, the UK or the European Union), such as the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
SheetSkill isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our database and limited access for administrators. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we’ll make them clear on the site.
